THE CHALLENGE
Build one display platform around a changing product category.
That makes a fixed display increasingly difficult to manage.
The fixture needed to provide a strong branded presentation while giving ASSA ABLOY the flexibility to update the program as products, graphics and store requirements changed.
Smart locks are an evolving category. Product assortments change, different brands may need to share a merchandising platform, and individual retail locations can require different configurations.
Adapt to different assortments
Support different combinations of smart locks without redesigning the entire fixture.
Work across store footprints
Allow the display footprint to expand or contract depending on the location.
Support multiple brands
Create a common fixture architecture capable of presenting different ASSA ABLOY brands and products.
Simplify future updates
Make product and graphic changes easier to execute in the field.
THE SOLUTION
A retail display designed as a system, not a single fixture.
Benchmarc developed a modular display architecture based around repeatable one-foot sections.
Each module could be configured with interchangeable product mounts and removable graphics, giving ASSA ABLOY a common platform that could evolve along with the merchandising program.

One-foot modular sections
Repeatable one-foot-wide modules allow the fixture footprint to be configured around the assortment and available retail space.
Replaceable graphics
Removable back graphics make brand, product and campaign updates easier to execute.
Interchangeable product mounts
Swappable mounts allow different lock products to be incorporated without rebuilding the entire merchandising system.
Built-to-order configurations
Displays can be assembled according to the requirements of an individual order rather than forcing every location into the same configuration.
MODULARITY
Start with one module. Build the display the store needs.
Instead of engineering separate fixtures for every possible assortment or footprint, the program uses repeatable modules that can be combined into different configurations.

1'
Base module
2'
Expanded assortment
3'+
More modules as needed
The result is a fixture architecture capable of expanding, contracting and changing without abandoning the original merchandising platform.
PROGRAM FLEXIBILITY
When the assortment changes, the fixture doesn't have to.
Change the product
Interchangeable mounts accommodate different smart-lock configurations.
Change the footprint
Modular sections can be added or removed according to the retail environment.
Retail programs rarely remain static.
New SKUs launch. Branding changes. Store footprints vary. Product strategies evolve.
The ASSA ABLOY display was designed around those realities.
Change the brand
Replaceable graphics allow the same fixture architecture to support multiple brands.
Change the order
Built-to-order assembly allows individual locations to receive configurations based on their specific needs.
THE SHOPPER EXPERIENCE

Make smart-lock technology easier to discover and evaluate.
Smart locks combine physical hardware with technology, security and connected-home functionality.
At retail, shoppers need to quickly understand what they are looking at and distinguish between available products.
A structured fixture helps give each lock a defined merchandising position while maintaining a consistent presentation across the assortment.
BUILT TO ORDER
Configure the display around the store, not the other way around.
Modular components
Use common fixture elements across multiple configurations.
Field reconfiguration
Interchangeable components help support future merchandising changes.
The modular architecture also supports Benchmarc's built-to-order display model.
Rather than maintaining every possible finished fixture configuration, common components can be used to create the configuration required for a particular location.
That creates a retail program designed for greater flexibility as store requirements change.
Configurable orders
Assemble displays around the product assortment and store requirement.
Program scalability
Expand the system as additional locations or assortments are introduced.
BENCHMARC SCOPE
From fixture architecture to dealer execution.
Successful modular fixture programs require more than an adaptable design. The physical display, replaceable components, production strategy and rollout requirements all need to work together.

Building a retail program that needs to change over time?
If your product assortment, store footprints or branding vary from location to location, you may not need a different fixture for every condition.
Benchmarc can help develop a modular retail display system designed around both the shopper experience and the operational realities of managing a national program.
